Playtest version launched
Time spent: approx. 40 hours (though most of that was spent doing nothing on my computer, just staring at it, you know how programming is)
Well, that was stressful.
There's a bunch of reasons. Mostly me. Didn't have a whole lot of time allocated for this, i've got tons of deadlines around now. But well, whose fault is that?
A lesser reason is Unity, and that it constantly recompiles after the slightest change (or whatever it is that it does in those 30 seconds). Like, do you really need to fully block me from the editor as you figure out what it means that a unit now does 4 damage instead of 5?
Lastly, I don't really feel like i'm in a position to complain, but if for some reason you wish to hear me out anyway... i don't feel like i learned a whole lot about actually making a game. Would have been nice if we had something like a tutorial for making pong from scratch in Unity, and then have us make our own game.
This could replace some of the less hands-on lecture contents such as when you named a bunch of famous games that used procedural generation in the past, which... frankly i don't care.
But yeah, there's perfectly tutorials online, so what do i know...
So anyway the game is playable now, assuming i uploaded the zip correctly. It has no sound and the code is horrible spaghetti because of how rushed i was, but it does run.
